Meet Mike Hofer

I grew up on a small farm in North Central, Kansas. At the time, I did not know much about anything else or anyone else outside of North Central, KS. Over time and after several years and moves around the United States and to Germany, I learned that I love to learn. I also know that "the more you know, the more you don't know". I had a colleague tell me over 20 years ago that "ignorance is bliss". I understand these phrases more today and still get excited to learn. "Ignorance might be bliss". However, these day's with easier access to information, it's easier and more fun than ever to learn. I decided to start this website to help myself collect thoughts, content, journal, and hopefully share some good advice with others.

Who I am:

  • A learner: Agriculture M.S., MBA, and consistently reading and listening to business focused content

  • Willing to share, take responsibility for my own actions and decisions, and share my experiences and thoughts

What I am not:

  • A professional coach, teacher, preacher, or financial advisor

  • A professional website creator

  • A billionaire

What I am intending to do:

  • Share some insights that I have learned

    • Hopefully helping you

  • Continue learning myself

    • And feel good about sharing

  • Update the Lessons and Learnings page the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month by 10:00 p.m. MST USA, so you will always have a new quote to ponder, book to consider reading, or consider some advice that I gave into action.

My Journey

Over the years, I've gathered insights from my family life, my great sport coaches, Christian faith, corporate career, personal farming, and general interest in personal finance. Some of my passion is to teach, coach, and share.

Therefore, I decided to write down things that I have heard, read, and taken to heart over my time. I wanted to write a book for several reasons such as:

  • Something urging me from within to try to pass on something I learned and/or wished I would have learned earlier

  • Feeling good about myself for sharing with others

My risk of writing is:

  • The time I could have been doing something else

  • The pride lost if my advice is not needed, used, or followed

    • "if I hear crickets" vs some thank you's

Still, as I write this, I feel a sense that:

  • My family and surrounding friends might be interested

  • I will feel a sense of accomplishment

  • Some excitement that there is someone, someplace that might connect with me and we develop a professional relationship

  • Maybe some guilt that this is just as much about me as you
